America Recycles Day Nov 9th

Think Globally, Act Locally! BBVA Compass Stadiumand the Houston Dynamo will host America Recycles Day on Saturday, November 9^th from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. The event, which encourages Houstonians to bring electronic recycling (e-cycling) and regular recycling items to the Soccer Fest area located at Walker and Hutchins Streets, is part of the national recycling awarenessmovement. The event is brought to you by AEG1Earth, BBVA Compass Stadium, the Houston Dynamo, TechnoCycle and Keep Houston Beautiful.

As a thank you for participating in the America Recycles Day event, each patron who brings recycling to the event will receive a coupon for $10 off merchandise in the team store; minimum spend of $50 required.

E-cycling is open to the following items: computers (flat screen monitors only), laptops & accessories, printers, toner cartridges, telephones & cell phones, gaming devices, CDs, DVDs, stereo equipment, flat screen televisions & computer screens (no tube screens accepted), batteries and more. Regular recycling will also be accepted on site and includes plastic, aluminum, glass, cardboard and paper.

America Recycles Day takes place nationally each year and has become a month-long celebration dedicated to encouraging Americans to recycle and purchase recycled products. Since 2010, AEG venues have hosted various recycling events to celebrate America Recycles Day. Venues have placed a special emphasis on e-waste to help educate patrons on the importance of e-waste recycling to ensure no electronics are sent to landfills. In 2012, 22 AEG venues hosted recycling events which resulted in five public e-waste collection events and the collection of over six tons of recycled materials as well as education and outreach to over 500,000 people. Through programs like America Recycles Day, BBVA Compass Stadium aims to educate patrons and engage partners in on-going community sustainability initiatives.
