BBVA Compass Stadium & Houston Dynamo Host America Recycles Day November 15th

Think Globally, Act Locally for America Recycles Day!  BBVA Compass Stadium, an AEG Facilities venue, and the Houston Dynamo will host a FREE community recycling event to celebrate America Recycles Day on Saturday, November 15.  The event will feature electronic recycling presented by ERecycler, Inc. along with on-site document shredding presented by The Shred Guy and collection of regular recycling items such as plastic, aluminum and cardboard. 

Fans are encouraged to bring recycling to the America Recycles Day Drop-Off Zone, located at the corner of Walker and Hutchins Streets, where Houston Dynamo and BBVA Compass Stadium staff, along with community volunteers, will be on-hand to assist with the removal of all items.  ERecycler, Inc. will make a donation to Dynamo Charities based on the overall weight of electronic recycling collected during the event.

As a thank you for participating in the America Recycles Day event, each participant will receive a Menchie’s coupon for a FREE 5 oz. frozen yogurt; valid at participating locations.

Recycling Items Accepted

E-cycling is open to the following items: computers (flat screen monitors only), laptops & accessories, printers, toner cartridges, telephones & cell phones, gaming devices, CDs, DVDs, stereo equipment, flat screen televisions & computer screens (no tube screens accepted), batteries and more.  Regular recycling will also be accepted on site and includes plastic, aluminum and cardboard.  All documents and paper will be shredded on-site.

America Recycles Day at BBVA Compass Stadium is brought to you by AEG1Earth, BBVA Compass Stadium, the Houston Dynamo, E-Recycling, Inc., The Shred Guy, Keep Houston Beautiful, EaDo, Urban Harvest and the Harris County Department of Education.

In 2014, the second annual AEG 1EARTH sustainability report outlined AEG’s progress towards reducing the energy and carbon footprint of venues within the company’s portfolio.  AEG’s ongoing commitment to improving venue operations and the effort to identify environmental best practices are important steps to achieving these reductions.

In addition to the community recycling event, Texas Southern University will host Jackson State in the final game of the 2014 college football season.  Kick-off is at 5:30 p.m. Tickets are $15 and available online at www.bbvacompassstadium.com or at the box office, open Monday-Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
